Each school is permitted one nominee in the first category and multiple nominees in the second category. Nominees do not have to be ASEE members, but, in a close contest, the award will go to the ASEE member. Award winners are expected to attend the September ASEE Midwest Meeting.
Deadline for the nomination packets: June 15, 2008
Nomination format:
- Letter of nomination from the Dean or designee (no more than one page)
- Nominee’s Vita (no more than three pages)
- Supporting information including letters of endorsement (no more than 11 pages)
- Late nominations or nominations exceeding page limits will not be considered

Outstanding Teaching Award: Consists of a $750 to $1000 honorarium and certificate of recognition to an individual whose activities indicate outstanding contributions to engineering and/or technology education. Additional criteria used to judge the nominees for this award are listed on the ASEE national webpage (www.asee.org/activities/awards/section.cfm). This award is jointly sponsored by the Deans of the Midwest Section. The winner becomes the nominee of the Section for the ASEE National Outstanding Teaching Medal for the following year.
Qualifications for Teaching Awards: Any member of the section may nominate candidates for the outstanding teaching and service awards. The nomination package should include a letter of support from the Dean or his/her designee. Each school may forward one nominee per award. Up to a three page vita and no more than 11 additional pages of information (including support letters) make up each school’s nomination package. Supporting letters from colleagues, and current and past students are recommended but not required. The nomination package must be sent (electronically preferred) to the Midwest Section Awards Chair.
The Award: An honorarium of $500 to $1000 and certificate of recognition to an individual whose contributions to engineering and/or technology education primarily through teaching support and/or non-classroom, student-related activities deserves recognition as well as for involvement in ASEE and ASEE Midwest Section activities. This award is sponsored by the Deans of the Midwest Section.
Qualifications: Any member of the section may nominate candidates for this award by preparing a nomination package that includes a nomination letter, a nomination rationale statement, a vitae and evidence of service accomplishments. Supporting letters from colleagues are recommended but are not required. The nomination package must be sent (electronically preferred) to the Midwest Section Awards Chair.
