Windows Using PuTTY
Overview
You will be logging in to login.utulsa.edu with SSH using PuTTY. Using PuTTY, you will be creating a secure port to orgs.utulsa.edu. From there you can use WinSCP, WS_ftp, on your computer where you are connecting to orgs. PuTTY will set up a hostname called localhost with a port that you designate.
To get connected complete Step 1 then you may go on to Step 2.
Step 1: Setting Up PuTTY
- Download PuTTY from the internet if you do not already have it installed. Get the correct version for your computer. You may click on the putty.exe and save it directly on your computer so that you can find it.

- Open PuTTY.
- On the left under Category, click on Tunnels which is under Connection, SSH. [ View Image ]
- Enter a (1) Source Port and Destination under Add new forwarded port where source port is a number of your choice above 1024 and destination is orgs.utulsa.edu:22 and (2) click the Add button. [ View Image ] See results of the Add. [ View Image ]
- Click on the Session Category.
- (1) Enter login.utulsa.edu for the hostname and select SSH.
- (2) Put a name in the Saved Sessions and click Save. [ View Image ]
- Click Open. Leave the PuTTY open but you can minimize the window.
- The next time that you enter PuTTY you can just go to the Session category, select your Saved Session that you just created and click Open skipping steps 3-6.
Step 2: Connecting to Orgs
PuTTY set up an open connection to orgs with the hostname called localhost on the port 12345 (using the example above). Leave PuTTY running; you may minimize it.
--Using WinSCP
After you have run PuTTY you may use WinSCP to connect to your orgs with localhost and the port number like 12345 (in example above).
- Open WinSCP.
- Enter the parameters on the Session option.

- Enter the following parameters:
- Host name = localhost
- Port number = 12345 (from our example). Note that the port number should be the number you used in PuTTY.
- Username = enter the username that you use to login to orgs.utulsa.edu and the password.
- Click Save and give it a name. You will be able to use this setting in the future.

- In the Stored sessions click on the session that you just saved and click Login. [ View Image ]
- The next time that you return you will just need to click the Stored session and click Login.
--Using Filezilla
- Click File and then Site Manager. Click New Site and give it a name.
- Enter the following parameters:

- Host: = localhost
- Port: = 12345 (the port that we used in the SSH command)
- Logontype = Normal
- User: = the username that you use to log onto to your org site
- Click Connect.
- Enter your password.
