Answer: An overnight two-day science competition

Boys - CompetitionDuring the last week of June, the 2016 Oklahoma STEM Competition Academies will begin. The competition is designed for upper middle and high school students to compete as teams in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) challenges.

The STEM competitions will last two or three days requiring an overnight stay at one of the three participating universities.

1) The University of Tulsa, Tulsa - June 30 - July 1

2) Oklahoma State University, Stillwater - July 6-7

3) Cameron University, Lawton - July 7-9.


Interested students should register online. The academy is free and sponsored by the participating universities and the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.

Each university will select 90 students from the applicants to participate in the competition held on their campus. Students may attend only one of the three competitions.

Once on campus, students will be assigned to teams which will compete in STEM challenges. After each competition, students will be reassigned to new teams for the next event. At the end of the competition, the top students will be invited to a State-wide final competition and will represent their region and university. That event will be held on July 23, 2016 on the campus of The University of Tulsa. *Transportation to the July 23rd event will be made available from Cameron Univeristy and Oklahoma State University.

Students will stay overnight in campus housing and meals are provided.
