Whether you are running Mac OS 9.2, 9.1, or just 9.0, it really does not matter. Unfortunatly, there is little support for OS 9 and down unless you go back to the Finder 7.0 that was a part of Mac OS 7.0. However, we recomoned against this!! Instead, here are some basic instructions how to type in Russian. Hope it helps. |
| Just for your info, before the mid 1990's, Macintosh computers were not welcomed in many the former soviet states, this might be one reason for the lack of their support. |

Step one: Select the Apple Menu located in the top left corner of your screen. Scroll down the menu to "Control Panels", here, select "Keybaord"
Step Two: The Keyboard Control Panal should now be open. Scroll through the list of languages and add a check next to the Russian option. Once you have it checked, you may close this window.
Step Three: If you have done everything correct in the steps above, you should now see an icon of the US flag next to your clock. If you click on it, you will see a menu similar to the one below. If you want to type in Russian, simply click here and select Russian.
Also, if you want to change between the two keyboards quickly, instead of using your mouse, you can simply press hold down the Apple key (command key), then press the Space Bar. This will toggle between Standard English and Russian.
If you want to know what keys do what under the Cyrilic set up, you'll want to open a small application called Key Caps. Key Caps should be located in your Apple Menu, but if not, you can do a quick search for it with Sherlock.Key Caps will display any language you have selected in the menu above.
