Homecoming 2011

Below are just some of the exciting events planned for Homecoming 2011:

Homecoming Week Participation Contest:
We are inviting any TU organization to get involved in the week by participating in the Red Bull Chariot Race and Street Painting contests. The Red Bull Race will occur the morning of game day and will have prizes for best design, best spirit, and the race winners. The deadline to register is Sunday, October 23 at 5pm.

Red Bull Chariot Race:
Want to live the excitement of a chariot race in front of Fountain Plaza? Dress up in your favorite Roman garb, pick your top racers, and start building! A chariot counts as any vehicle with two wheels pulled by at most two people and a place for someone to ride. Red Bull will sponsor and build the course, providing gates and hay bales for safety and plenty of drinks for everyone.

Street Painting:
Each organization will have a designated area to paint on 8th Street in front of the football stadium. Decorate your area from 6-9 PM on Tuesday October 12th. Some paint and brushes will be provided but bring extras! The street painting will be judged by alumni at the conclusion of the event. Free pizza and ice cream will also be provided!

TU Cup Futbol Tournament and Tailgate:
Come out to The New U on Wednesday at 5 and set up a tent or booth for your org for a real game day experience! But this time, it won't be for a football game, but for a FUTBOL tournament! Each org who signs up a team will be paired with an international student team to help promote connecting with each others cultures to attain the grand prize, the TU Cup! Go practice your corner kicks, gather 7-11 friends, and sign up HERE to get your team in the tourney!--> Points will be awarded to the winners of the tournament and best tailgates, as judged by students.

Prizes:
1st Place: $1,000
2nd Place: $750
3rd Place: $500

Monday, October 24

Homecoming Kick-off!

7:00pm - 8:00pm
Upstairs in ACAC, Chouteau Room
Organizations can pick up supplies for street painting and get more info on the week's events. Free pizza will be provided and this will be your first chance to pick up your Homecoming t-shirt!
To get your organization involved fill out the registration form.

Tuesday, October 25

Street Painting!

6:00pm - 9:00pm
8th Street (Hurricane Alley)
Come out and paint the street running in front of the football stadium to prepare for the big game! Each participating organization will have a designated area to paint, so bring your great ideas! The painting will be judged by alumni at the conclusion of the event. Also enjoy the awesome DJ, pizza, ice cream, and get your Homecoming T-shirt.

Wednesday, October 26

TU Cup Futbol Tournament and Tailgate

5:00pm - 9:00pm
Harwell Field
Come help share our tailgating traditions with our international students by setting up a tent or booth for your org and sign up a team for the soccer tournament. Free food from different cultures will be provided and the winners of best tailgate and the tourney will win points for the week!

Thursday, October 27

Second City Comedy Tour

8:00pm (doors open at 7pm)
Reynolds Center
Free Student tickets, $10 general admission tickets and $5 Faculty/Staff tickets will be available at the Reynolds Center ticket office or by calling 631-GOTU (General Admission tickets only).

Friday, October 28

Sharp Plaza Luncheon

11:00am - 1:00pm
Sharp Plaza
Stop by and get some lunch between class. This will be your last chance to get your Homecoming t-shirt! United Way will provide Halloween themed cookies!

Bonfire and Taste of TU

8:00pm
The U
Bring your organization out for a night of Hurricane Spirit, including Taste of TU, special recognitions, and the Bonfire. Get excited for the big game!

Saturday, October 29

RED BULL Chariot Race

Starts at Noon
In front of the fountains.
There will be competitions for best spirit, best chariot design, and of course, the fastest racers. Rules and regulations can be found HERE. Be sure to dress for the occasion and bring out your whole org to cheer you on! Points will be awarded!

SA Tailgate

Tailgate starts at 1:00pm
8th Street (Hurricane Alley)
Come out to the tailgate and enjoy the free pizza and fun giveaways! Show your spirit by dressing up in TU colors, using the body paint at the tailgate or bringing posters and signs.

TU Football vs. SMU

2:30pm
H.A. Chapman Stadium
Watch the Golden Hurricanes take on SMU. Don't miss the exciting half-time show when the winner of the street painting competition, Red Bull prizes, and overall competition will be announced along with the 2011 Homecoming Court.

Free student tickets are available at the Reynold's Center Ticket Office.

Given that there is a tie at the end of the week, the Alumni Association will decide who wins based on the spirit of the organization throughout the week.
