Homecoming 2012

Below are just some of the exciting events planned for Homecoming 2012:

Homecoming Week Participation Contest:
We are inviting any TU organization to get involved in the week by participating in the Chariot Race and Street Painting contests as well as the TU Color run!

**If your organization wants to participate in the Homecoming Events, you MUST sign up by October 8: ORG SIGN UP HERE

Organizations need to check in for the week on Sunday, Oct. 14, at 7:00pm in ACAC.

Monday, October 15

TU Chariot Race!

5:00pm New U
The TU Chariot Race will be conducted with a single elimination bracket with two teams competing at a time ("team" being each organization participating).
The race will be on the straight part of the street around the New U. Points will be awarded to the 1st place team and to the team with the best chariot based on style and technique.

The build of the chariot is up to the team, but it MUST

• Be pulled by 2 people with one person riding inside the chariot.
• Have two wheels and a strut.
• Be decorated with TU Colors: Red, Gold, and Blue.

Students can pick up a Homecoming shirt, watch the races, and get free food (Charlie's Chicken!) at the event.

Tuesday, October 16

Street Painting and Banner Contest!

6:00pm - 9:00pm
8th Street (Hurricane Alley)
Come out and paint the street running in front of the football stadium to prepare for the big game! Each participating organization will have a designated area to paint, the theme of Homecoming this year being "True Blue Nation" playing off of the election year. Each team's street painting and banner should reflect the theme.
To receive paint and banner supplies, a representative for each team must check in on Sunday the 14th in ACAC. The painting will be judged by alumni at the conclusion of the event, awarding points based on incorporation of theme, overall artistry, and creativity.
Also enjoy the awesome DJ, Papa John's Pizza, and get your Homecoming T-shirt.

Wednesday, October 17

TU Color Run

5:30 registration, Race starts at 6:00pm
ACAC Parking Lot
The race will be a fun-run 5k, similar to the Color Run (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4EERSfHiqT8).
Teams will receive points based on the number of people from their team participating. Members of teams that wish to participate must REGISTER HERE.
Participants will check in at the event.

Thursday, October 18

Concert!

8:00pm (doors open at 7pm)
Reynolds Center
Ben Rector is coming to TU! Tickets are free for students, $12 general admission tickets, and $6 Faculty/Staff tickets. Tickets are on sale at the TU ticket office or online at ticketstorm.com.

Friday, October 19

Bonfire and Taste of TU

8:00pm
Deitler Commons"The Old U"
Bring your organization out for a night of Hurricane Spirit, including Taste of TU, special recognitions, and the Bonfire. Get excited for the big game!
