The Robert Frost collection at The University of Tulsa is one of the most complete ever assembled and enjoys the added distinction of having been formed by the late John S.van E. Kahn, a friend of Frost’s and co-proprietor of Seven Gables Bookshop. Thus, not only does it contain all the issues and states of various rare titles, it also holds complete sets of the Christmas pamphlets, with an example of each different state produced for any given year. As might be expected for any collection formed by John Kohn, condition is fine throughout.
In addition to original correspondence with Frost, there are numerous sets of galley proofs of primary and secondary works. Also, the marked copies of bibliographies on Frost reflect Kahn’s deep knowledge of books drawn from a lifetime of experience in working with notable books, collectors, and librarians. The section on Frost’s contributions to books as well as periodicals is comparable in completeness to the rest of the collection.
