What is the BLTGA?
The Bi-sexual, Gay, Lesbian, and Transgendered Alliance encourages and fosters the development and greater presence of diversity -- particularly of sexual orientation -- at TU. One of the keys to a more equal social structure is education about diversity and sexuality, therefore we provide opportunities for people to learn and experience our sexual diversity without being intimidating, offensive, or intrusive. We believe in social awareness and through the conjunction of the BGLTA with UCM, we support the social justice issues that pertain to others and assist other organizations within the UCM in their programming whenever needed. Current projects include the National Cohesion Project rally, World AIDS Day, a yearlong BGLT history campaign, the Pride Parade and the Queer Prom.
In order to maintain openness, BLGTA holds confidentiality is up most important. Our meetings are strictly confidential, as are our membership lists and a person's sexual orientation. We do not hand out information with out the consent of that person. Because we realize that not everyone is at the same place regarding his or her sexuality, we are especially welcoming to those who are in the process of coming out and also to those who are, in general, unsure of there sexuality.
