RECYCLEMANIA is on at TU!

RecycleMania is a national competition that compares the recycling rates and total pounds of recycling at colleges and universities across the nation.

As of April 3rd, TU is #61 out of 145, at 12.7 pounds per person! The competition lasts until Saturday, April 5, so make sure you clean out your office, clear out your stacks of old newspapers, and turn in those soda cans!

What can you recycle?

aluminum cans Apartments, ResHalls, Academic Buildings rinse and crush; no aluminum foil
paper Apartments, ResHalls, Academic Buildings clean and dry; no paperboard
plastic type 1 Apartments, ResHalls "clear" plastics (soda and water bottles) with caps removed
plastic type 2 Apartments, ResHalls "opaque" plastics (detergent and milk jugs) with caps removed
glass bottles Physical Plant West Yard clean and sorted into green, brown or clear bottles and jars
paperboard, cardboard Physical Plant West Yard clean and not immediately "tearable" (cereal boxes, shipping boxes); no pizza boxes
motor oil, antifreeze Physical Plant Mechanics
