The poster states “Women! Help America’s Sons Win the War” and depicts a grandmotherly like woman with outstretched arms and a smiling face standing in front of a representation of an American flag and a war scene. This scene depicts sinking ships, dead and wounded soldiers and American troops carrying a flag marching into the battle. The bottom of the poster asks the viewer to “Buy U.S. Government Bonds, 2nd Liberty Loan of 1917”.  The poster is designed to appeal to women on the home front based on the gender role of motherhood and attempts to elicit an emotional response that would lead to the purchase of war bonds. The central figure is portrayed as one of affluence, she wears nice clothes, has jewelry and looks very fresh, this depicts American women as being safe and, in a position, to help their sons financially.
