Gordon is a soldier in the military fighting during WWI. He writes a journal of his experiences throughout the war. Gordon spent the majority of the war in and out of the hands of the Germans. He talks of what he went through and how he manages to escape the Germans and return home. This journal was written as a letter to his father. There is never any mention of surnames, especially Gordon. He draws maps of the camps he escapes from and asks his father not to share his secrets.
