William V. Lovell's Bonds

Subject

War Bonds

Description

This is a bond allotment request form for Private First Class William V. Lovell on a Quartermaster Corps form. The form is actually quite small; it is only about 3 and a half inches tall and 8 inches wide. This particular copy is marked as a duplicate to be kept for record by the United States Treasury.
He requested two bond coupons for the amount of fifty dollars each for a total of one hundred dollars in 3rd Liberty Loan Bonds. He was to pay for the bonds over the course of ten months between April 1, 1918 and January 31, 1919. To pay for the bonds, every month, the amount of ten dollars would be deducted from his paycheck to cover the cost of the bonds.
The form also shows that this request was processed at the 3rd Aviation Institution Center in France on April 29, 1918. The 3rd Aviation Institution Center in France was the largest overseas American Air Base during World War I.
The form was certified by Major Benedict and signed by William V. Lovell, authorizing the deduction from his pay in exchange for bond coupons. The back side of the form dictates the address where the bonds are to be sent and is signed, again, by William Lovell.
